Richard C. Halpern
Richard Halpern was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1984 and has practised with Thomson, Rogers since then. Richard graduated from the University of Windsor Law School in 1982 and from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998 with a Masters Degree in Law (LLM) in civil litigation.
Richard is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, The Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. He is also a member of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group of the American Association of Justice and a member of the Holland Group.
Richard is a past-president of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and formerly chaired the OBA Working Group on Auto Insurance. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association Working Group on No-Fault Insurance. Through these organizations, Richard has been active in advocating for the rights of accident victims and consumers in connection with auto insurance reform. He has made many presentations to government, and written widely on the subject.
Richard has been actively involved in continuing legal education, delivering presentations on topics that include trial advocacy, auto insurance reform, and physician and hospital liability with a particular emphasis on obstetrical malpractice litigation.
Richard’s practice is exclusively civil litigation with an emphasis on complex medical malpractices and auto accident cases.
