John McLeish is a founding partner of McLeish Orlando. John’s practice is devoted to representing individuals and their families who have suffered losses through a serious or catastrophic personal injury or the death of a loved one.
John has been named by his peers as “Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation” through the organization Best Lawyers® in Canada, and selected to be part of the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory. The Law Society of Upper Canada has certified John as a specialist in civil litigation. John is also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 2000, The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association established the John A. McLeish Award, which is given to a person, association, or group that has made an outstanding contribution to the goals of a fair trial and access to justice. In addition, John has recovered the largest personal injury damages award in Canada for a young brain injured girl and her family against a negligent driver, an insurance company and the Ministry of Transportation.
John’s areas of expertise include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, serious orthopedic injuries, and fatal accidents arising from: motor vehicle collisions, drunk driving, the excessive serving of alcohol by bars and restaurants, unsafe road and highways, personnel and employment records, pedestrian accidents, cycling accidents, boating accidents, and school negligence cases.
John is the co-author of many published books on personal injury litigation. These books are used to teach other lawyers how to expertly develop and prepare cases involving personal injury and wrongful death in order to achieve the maximum settlement. John also has a book devoted exclusively to traumatic brain injury cases.
In John’s spare time he likes to work out, play golf, and ski with his wife.
