Fact #19: 11 PIA Law Lawyers Are Certified Specialists in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario

A leading number of Personal Injury Lawyers are recognized by the Law Society of Ontario as Certified Specialists in Civil Litigation.

SUPPORTING INFORMATION:

The Law Society of Ontario awards the Certified Specialist designation in Civil Litigation to lawyers who meet a rigorous standard of demonstrated competence. To qualify, a lawyer must have at least seven years of legal experience, significant hands-on involvement in civil litigation including trials, mediations, and tribunal hearings, and must pass a thorough evaluation process with ongoing annual renewal requirements.

Eleven lawyers across the three firms of the Personal Injury Alliance currently hold this designation.

WHY IT MATTERS:

The organization which bestows the authority to practice law in the province of Ontario, the Law Society of Ontario, has declared that we have specialists in this specific discipline. This qualification identifies these lawyers for their skills and capabilities.

To receive the credential, there are specific requirements a lawyer must achieve to receive a Specialist Certification in Civil Litigation from the Law Society of Ontario.  The candidate must have: devoted a minimum of 30% of their practice concentration to civil litigation in the last 5 years, substantial involvement in civil litigation, 50 hours of self-study and 12 hours of relevant professional development, and references from legal practitioners that practice law in Ontario.
