WHY IT MATTERS:

The organization which bestows the authority to practice law in the province of Ontario, the Law Society of Upper Canada, has declared that we have specialists in this specific discipline. This qualification identifies these lawyers for their skills and capabilities.

To receive the credential, there are specific requirements a lawyer must achieve to receive a Specialist Certification in Civil Litigation from the Law Society of Upper Canada.  The candidate must have: devoted a minimum of 30% of their practice concentration to civil litigation in the last 5 years, substantial involvement in civil litigation, 50 hours of self-study and 12 hours of relevant professional development, and references from legal practitioners that practice law in Ontario.
