Winter Driving Safety Tips

December 3, 2014

It looks like we are in for a lot of snow this season. Drive safe by following these easy winter driving safety tips.

-Check the weather report and travel conditions ahead of hitting the roads.

-Give yourself extra time and stay on main roads during heavy snowfall.

-Ensure your windshield, lights, and windows are free of ice and snow before driving.

-Clear the snow from the hood of your car, as well as the roof, to prevent blowing snow from effecting your visibility and the visibility of surrounding motorists.

-Top up your windshield wiper fluid and keep a spare container in the trunk.

-Drive slowly on snow and ice covered roads.

-Brake gently to avoid skidding.

-See and be seen. Keep your headlights on to increase visibility.

-Slow down, be alert, and maintain a safe following distance.
